A man driving a Toyota RAV4 crashed into a Cadillac Escalade that was stopped in front of a railroad crossing while a train moved through the intersection. The crash pushed the Cadillac into the moving train, and the search warrant states the Toyota also hit the train.

The Toyota caught on fire, but was put out by a bystander who used a fire extinguisher.

Investigators believe the Toyota was going 68-69 mph, according to the document. The speed limit on Central Avenue is 30 mph.

The woman who was driving the Cadillac was brought to the hospital with serious injuries, including a broken pelvis. As previously reported, she is expected to survive.

The man’s injuries are considered life-threatening. He is also suspected of being impaired at the time of the crash, and as of Wednesday, authorities were waiting on the results of a blood draw.

As of Thursday afternoon, the man has not been charged.

The search warrant was filed to get the event data recorder from the Toyota. The device is installed in vehicles to record information relating to crashes. The warrant was filed and executed on Wednesday.
