SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — Happy Wednesday, Utah!  Our Wednesday will feature scattered showers and storms sweeping across the state Wednesday afternoon. These storms could produce areas of locally heavy rain, gusty winds, small hail, and frequent lightning. The wind will continue to howl outside of any thunderstorms through Wednesday night.

As the cold front moves through, winds will switch directions from out of the south to out of the northwest bringing another big, fast drop in temperatures Wednesday evening. Areas above 7000FT will likely see any rain quickly change over to snow as those snow levels quickly drop. Several inches of fresh snow will be possible again for the higher elevations.

The good news is that the end of the work week into the upcoming weekend is looking perfect for any outdoor fall activities. Highs will be in the 60s for northern Utah and into the low to mid 70s for southern Utah. The sun will return and shine across the state in full force through the weekend.
