Red Cross of Utah urges lifesaving skills on World Restart a Heart Day

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (ABC4) — Thursday is World Restart a Heart Day — a chance to raise awareness about cardiac arrest and the importance of CPR and AED skills.

According to the American Red Cross, more than 350,000 Americans experiencing cardiac arrest each year. Knowing how to respond to these emergencies with CPR or using an AED can double or even triple the chance of survival.

World Restart a Heart Day falls during National Sudden Cardiac Arrest Awareness Month, which is a time to spotlight the importance of immediate action during cardiac emergencies. Without immediate intervention, SCA can be fatal within minutes.

The Red Cross offers certified training in CPR, Hands-Only CPR and AED use. These courses are available in-person, online or through hybrid formats.
