Pinthouse takes home gold, silver medals from 2025 Great American Beer Festival

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Pinthouse, known for its iconic beer in Austin, took home gold and silver awards from the 2025 Great American Beer Festival.

Fleeting Shadows took home the gold in the International Dark Lager category, and Hecho En Szechuan took home the silver in the Herb and Spice Beer category, according to a news release from Pinthouse.

“It’s pretty exciting to finally win with this one,” said Ethan Schulman, Pinthouse Lamar’s head brewer, in the release. “I’ve been brewing batches of Hecho for three years and tweaking the recipe with each release. I’m pretty happy for it to be the one that earns my first GABF medal as a head brewer.”

Adding the latest awards to the roster, Pinthouse has earned 11 GABF medals overall — that includes five gold, three silver and three bronze medals “across nine distinct beer styles.”

Texas brewing shined in the Great American Beer Festival’s breakdown with an all-time record of 21 total medals, the news release said.

In addition to Pinthouse’s awards, other Austin breweries and one in Lago Vista made the list, which can be seen on the Great American Beer Festival website.

• Darlin’ earned the silver medal in the International-Style Pilsener category
• Hot Shot earned the gold medal in the Smoke Beer category
• Red Giant earned the bronze medal in the Strong Red Ale category
• Howdyfest-Oktoberfest with Rye earned the silver medal in the Rye Beers category

• Rhubarbed in Houston earned the gold medal in the Field Beer category
• Liberty Bell in Houston earned the bronze medal in the Mixed-Culture Brett Beer category
• Irish Hello in Houston earned the bronze medal in the Stout category
• Perpetual Peace in Katy earned the silver medal in the Wood- and Barrel-Aged Strong Beer category
• The Last Bockbuster in Mansfield earned the bronze medal in the Bock category
• Fluff Said in North Richland Hills earned the silver medal in the Dessert Stout or Pastry Stout category
• Groovy in North Richland Hills earned the bronze medal in the Field Beer category
• Assume But Verify earned the silver medal in the Old Ale or Strong Ale or Barley Wine category
• Kilt Switch in Sherman earned the silver medal in the Scotch Ale category

Pinthouse said in its release it “was among honorees representing the Lone Star State’s thriving craft beer community.”
