Minneapolis mayoral candidates to address sanctuary city policyIt comes after the DOJ’s recent lawsuit alleging Minnesota officials endangered public safety by not working with ICE.
Candidates for the mayor of Minneapolis will speak at a forum on Thursday about how they would implement policies regarding cooperation with federal immigration officials, sometimes referred to as a sanctuary city policy.
The conversation comes as the DOJ recently filed a lawsuit alleging that a handful of Minnesota public officials have endangered public safety because of their unwillingness to work with ICE officers. The lawsuit says this has allowed dangerous criminals to roam free.

Senator Omar Fateh, Dewayne Davis and Jazz Hampton are expected to attend the event, but current Mayor Jacob Frey will not be in attendance.
Frey has adamantly spoken out against the lawsuit, saying, “We will not be bullied. We won’t cave. Minneapolis will always stand with our neighbors over Trump’s politics.”
