Local reporter passes after battle with pancreatic cancer
After a battle with pancreatic cancer, Paul Nelson has passed away, according to a GoFundMe update.
“We are sad to share that Paul passed away last night. Many, many of us are feeling this loss. Our profound thanks to his wife, Erica, and their family for sharing Paul with so many of us, and for so many years. While this fundraiser cannot erase the grief, we hope it represents a fraction of the love and gratitude many of us have for Paul,” the update reads.
Nelson was a well-known and experienced reporter in the area. He worked as a traffic reporter at ABC4 News from 1999 until 2004. Nelson also worked at KSL News Radio for nearly two decades and at KUTV News since 2023.

Outside of the stations he worked with, Paul’s experience and dedication as a reporter also touched many throughout Utah.
“Paul was one of the good guys, and I truly enjoyed spending time with him. We will deeply miss him, and our prayers are with his family,” Utah Governor Spencer Cox shared online.
His family and friends are raising funds through GoFundMe to cover funeral expenses, as well as to take care of some of the healthcare costs associated with cancer.
Paul leaves behind three kids and his wife, Erica.
