Filipino supermarket turning into nightclub this weekend in Daly City

(KRON) — There was much excitement from the local community when Seafood City opened its first location in Daly City. Seafood City, which sells primarily Filipino goods, has filled the needs of the city’s large Filipino community since it first opened in July.

Now, it’s filling a not-so-expected need.

Seafood City is turning its grocery store into a nightclub with the “Late Night Madness” event that takes place on Friday, Oct. 17 and Saturday, Oct. 18 from 8 p.m. until midnight. The event is dubbed as a “Filipino Street Food Party,” according to Seafood City’s Instagram page.

Some of the street food options on the menu include “Lumpiang Shanghai Overload,” “Kaboodles,” “Screambol,” and “Fireball with cheese.” Several Bay Area DJs are slated to perform a set: DJ Cutso, DJ Jayou and DJ Boogie Brown.

In the Bay Area, Late Night Madness is only happening at the Daly City location. For Filipino American History Month, Seafood City is hosting Late Night Madness at its locations across the country, including Los Angeles, Houston and Las Vegas.

Last week, crowds packed the Seafood City in Los Angeles. An Instagram post, which was liked by Too Short, shows people dancing in front of a DJ placed at the store’s entrance. There were giving away snacks from the grocery store, throwing the items into the sea of people dancing.

Even Bay Area rapper and Filipino-American P-Lo made an appearance.
