CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools employee has been arrested in connection with a violent incident, according to Mecklenburg County court records.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police said Chandraprabha Singh, 44, was taken into custody on Sunday, October 12, by detectives from the department’s Domestic Violence Unit.

Police said Singh was later charged with assault with a deadly weapon, inflicting serious injury, after court records state she used a knife to cut a man on the neck. The incident did not happen on school grounds and did not involve any students or school staff, CMPD said.

Singh has since posted bond, which was set at $10,000 secured.

CMPD is encouraging anyone with further information to call the Domestic Violence Unit at 704-336-2379 or leave an anonymous tip with Charlotte Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.

Queen City News has reached out to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools to confirm Singh’s current job status, her role within the district, and her length of employment. CMS has not yet responded.
