Pearl will be a part of CBS Sports to call regular-season games and contribute to studio coverage. He will also contribute to CBS Sports and TNT Sports’ joint coverage of the NCAA Tournament.
Pearl, who first came to Auburn in 2014, retired on Sept. 22, leading the Tigers to a 214-123 record and making March Madness five times, including the Final Four last year, where they lost to eventual NCAA champions Florida. His son, Steven, now leads the team.
He took to X Thursday to share his excitement:
“So grateful for the opportunity to join CBS SPORTS. The song One Shining Moment still brings tears to my eyes and such fond memories. I so wanted to help my teams play for championships in March and I can’t wait to deliver analysis of college basketball throughout the season!”
For a time, there was some speculation that Pearl, who is vocal about politics on social media, would run for Tommy Tuberville’s seat in the U.S. Senate, but ultimately decided not to.
