According to a probable cause affidavit, the suspect, Aiden Larsen, has been booked into jail for failure to obey and officer, a third-degree felony and reckless endangerment, a Class A misdemeanor.
According to officials, Richfield City officers were notified of a ping from a cell phone that showed the suspect was around Snow College campus. A trooper with Utah Highway Patrol also responded to the scene to check the area and help match the description of the suspect’s vehicle.
As the trooper arrived, he passed a similar vehicle matching the description and the license plate. As officers attempted to stop the vehicle, Larsen drove and took the on-ramp exit, allegedly driving over 100 miles per hour in an effort to flee from police.
The vehicle then entered a neighborhood in Elsinore was driving at 75 miles per hour. Multiple agencies then responded and continued to pursue Larsen. Larsen also passed through Monroe driving 80 miles per hour.
Law enforcement had to halt the chase, prioritizing public safety as Larsen was driving through neighborhoods at high speed limits.
Officers then said that they found Larsen’s truck heading towards Joseph, where it then got back on the freeway heading westbound, documents said.
The pursuit then continued up Clear Creek Canyon where troopers then spiked the vehicle’s front tires on the overpass. The vehicle entered an RV Park before running through multiple fences.
Larsen then fled on foot and police found him hiding under a building by the river and he has then taken into custody.
Officials say they also safely located the 12-year-old.
Larsen is currently being held without bail.
