Thai and Thai Restaurant in Columbus offering discounts on menu items during government shutdown
For more than a decade, Thai and Thai Restaurant have served the Columbus community.
This week, the restaurant posted a sign outside its Fort Benning Road location that reads: “In light of the government shutdown, we are pleased to offer a 15% discount on all dine-in and take-out orders.”
A server said the idea came from the restaurant’s owner, who wanted to help ease the strain on workers affected by the shutdown.
“They’re barely already making good income because of the location that we’re in,” the server said. “He felt bad one day and said, ‘Hey, can you make a sign? We’re all struggling right now. Let’s just be in this together.’”
The owner emphasized that the discount applies to every item on the menu. Thai and Thai Restaurant will continue offering the discount until Oct. 31.
