Some electric customers in Jeff Davis Parish to go dark Thursday

JENNINGS, La. (KLFY) — Some people in Jeff Davis Parish will be without electricity for most of the day tomorrow.

The Jeff Davis Electric Co-op has announced a scheduled outage tomorrow, Oct. 16, starting at 8 a.m. Members of Grand Chenier, Oak Grove, E. Creole Highway, Mermentau River Road and Little Chenier Road will be affected by the outage.

Officials said the outage is required to connect the Michigan-Wisconsin Substation to grid power using a newly constructed line, removing the need for generator power.

Outage is estimated to last 10 hours, officials said.
