Safety improvements continue for I-30 construction zone in Texarkana

TEXARKANA, Tx. (KTAL/KMSS) – A striping crew will continue to add contrast lines on Interstate 30 westbound east of Summerhill Road.

Currently, westbound traffic is reduced to a single lane through the construction zone, where the left-through lane will be closed as TxDOT works on applying a black background with white pavement markings to improve visibility.

The project began at 9 a.m. Monday, October 13, 2025, and is expected to continue through October 15.

During this time, Texas Department of Transportation officials will monitor and adjust traffic control plans to ensure safety and smooth traffic flow.

Motorists are advised to slow down and remain alert, as the speed limit in the work zone is reduced to 60 mph.

Drivers are also encouraged to avoid distractions and follow posted signs and message boards.

The state agency reminds travelers that the frontage road system provides continuous movement from State Line Avenue to Kings Highway.
