Phenix City police seek info on cold case in homicide of Lamar Dontaye Whitaker; $5K reward offered

PHENIX CITY, Ala. (WRBL) — Authorities with the Phenix City Police Department are seeking info on a five-year-old cold case on the murder of 35-year-old Lamar Dontaye Whitaker.

According to Phenix City PD, on Oct. 17, 2020 at approximately 12:30 p.m., officers with the department responded to the area of 4th Place South and 10th Avenue South for a report of a person who was shot.

When officers arrived, they located Whitaker, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Phenix City police say this marks the fifth anniversary of Whitaker’s death, and the department’s Criminal Investigations Division continues to actively investigate this case with a $5,000 reward being offered for information.
