Pelicans: Kevon Looney is out 2-3 weeks with left knee sprain

NEW ORLEANS — The Pelicans will be without one of their newest players for the beginning of the regular season.

The team announced Wednesday that center Kevon Looney suffered a “proximal tibiofibular ligament sprain in his left knee” during their preseason contest against South East Melbourne on Sunday, October 5th.

Looney will be re-evaluated in 2-3 weeks.

The Pelicans and Kevon Looney agreed to a two-year, $16 million deal back in July. The Pelicans play their preseason finale Thursday night in Orlando.
