Northfield to host 2026 pheasant opener
On Tuesday, the city of Northfield was announced as the location of the 2026 Governor’s Pheasant Hunting Opener.
Cities need to apply to host, and consideration for selection includes available hunting land, travel and tourism opportunities and community support.
“Our community has a strong tradition of celebrating conservation, outdoor recreation and the natural beauty that surrounds us. We look forward to showcasing our shared commitment to habitat stewardship and responsible hunting. We can’t wait to welcome visitors to our town and share all that makes this special,” said Jane Bartho, President and CEO of the Northfield Area Chamber of Commerce and Tourism, in a statement.
The 2026 pheasant opener is Oct. 9-10. Northfield joins 10 other communities to host the opener since it was created by former Gov. Mark Dayton in 2011.
