Interstate work leads to ramp, lane closures in Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS – Drivers should watch for lane and ramp closures during interstate construction projects around Indianapolis.

The Indiana Department of Transportation has several projects in the works, including one that will affect weekend travel on I-70 and another that will lead to overnight restrictions on I-65.

Starting on Friday night, INDOT will repair barrier walls along I-70 on the east side.

As a result, the I-70 westbound ramp to I-465 southbound will be closed from around 9 p.m. on Friday (Oct. 17) through 6 a.m. on Monday (Oct. 20).

One left lane on I-70 westbound will also close, as will the two left lanes of I-70 eastbound near the interchange. The closures will run from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. on Friday (Oct. 17) and Sunday (Oct. 19).

  • I-65 southbound reduced to one left lane from St. Clair Street to Ohio Street

Friday, October 17 (10 p.m. to 5 a.m.)

  • I-65 southbound ramp to the I-65 southbound collector/distributor closed

Friday, October 17 (10 p.m. to 9 a.m.)

  • Left two lanes closed on I-65 southbound between Senate Avenue and Central Avenue

INDOT said the work schedules are weather-dependent and could shift based on the conditions outside. Drivers should slow down and avoid distractions in work zones.
