SALT LAKE CITY, Utah
(ABC4) — I-215 will be closed overnight for construction starting Thursday as crews work on repairing a bridge near Parley’s canyon.
According to the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT), there will be nightly closures of I-215 near the mouth of Parleys Canyon between Oct. 16 and Oct. 26. The road will be closed as early as 9 p.m. each night and should re-open by 6 a.m.

UDOT says this part of I-215 will be closed in order to repair the eastbound I-80 bridge that crosses over I-215. UDOT officials have reported that the bridge was likely damaged by an oversized truck earlier this year.

Anyone traveling on Highway 186 or Foothill Drive should avoid the Reno-Cheyenne exit that leads to I-80. UDOT notes that this ramp merges with I-215 and that anyone trying to take this route will have to use Mount Aire Canyon Road to turn around.
During the closures, I-215 drivers will be re-routed to Foothill Drive.
Other UDOT Projects
UDOT is also working on other projects in Salt Lake City this weekend, including several on I-15.
Officials stated that lane closures will be in effect on southbound I-15 between Riverdale Road and 5600 South between Oct. 17 to 7 a.m. on Oct. 18. The road will be reduced to two lanes.
