
MIDVALE, Utah (ABC4) — Northbound lanes on State Street between Sandy and Midvale have been closed following a drive by shooting.
Sgt. Aymee Race with Unified Police Department told ABC4 that the incident involved two vehicles traveling southbound on State Street near 8300 S.
Someone in a dark colored four-door sedan fired approximately 6 rounds at the other car. At this time, police are not aware of any injuries, and there is no known victim or suspect at this point.
UDOT confirmed that a police incident closed all northbound lanes on State Street near 8286 N/MP 367.8. All northbound lanes are blocked, and so is the exit ramp and the shoulders.
Race said that the road will be closed for roughly another 20 minutes as they collect evidence, so it could be reopened as soon as 7:20 p.m. She also said that law enforcement will likely be collecting video footage from nearby businesses as a next step in the investigation.
Sandy Police Department also responded to the scene, but it was determined to be Unified Police Department jurisdiction, according to Sgt. Olson with Sandy Police.
