19-year-old woman killed in fiery Marengo car crash

MARENGO, Ill. (WTVO) — A 19-year-old Janesville woman is dead after a fiery car crash in Marengo on Monday night.

According to the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to the 22800 block of River Road around 9 p.m.

Investigators said a 2011 Toyota Prius, driven by Marley Galvan, of Janesville, was traveling west on River Road and failed to negotiate a curve, going off the road and hitting a tree and a post before catching fire near a garage.

Galvan was pronounced dead at the scene. An unnamed passenger was taken to Javon Bea Mercyhealth Riverside Hospital in Rockford.

The crash remains under investigation.
