Worker rescued, suspect arrested after ambulance theft on Tri-State Tollway
The original theft occurred in Niles, according to Illinois State Police. Hinsdale police took the suspect into custody in the area of southbound Interstate-294, from Dempster Street to Ogden Avenue, as seen in a SkyCam9 capture.
Troopers successfully deployed spike strips, which pierced all four of the ambulance’s tires, bringing the vehicle to a complete stop just south of Ogden Avenue.
Troops then took the driver/suspect into custody. Authorities also safely recovered the worker.
No word on injuries or charges at the time of publication.
