It all happened on Oct. 11 at Andrew Leitch Park on Dale Boulevard in Woodbridge.
According to the Prince William County Police Department, officers were dispatched to the park around 7:40 a.m. to investigate an assault.
Their investigation determined that a 47-year-old woman was at the park when an unknown person grabbed her and hit her with an object. Police noted that a family member found the woman on the ground with injuries.
The victim did not see the assailant.
Following the attack, officers and K-9 searched the area, but the suspect was not located.
The investigation is ongoing.
