WATCH: Bear grabs a bite to eat behind reporter

ALTADENA, Calif. (KTLA) – A reporter from Nexstar’s KTLA was in Altadena, California, Monday morning to report on a coming rainstorm, but an unexpected visitor stole the show.

As Erin Myers discussed preparations for a possible flood, a bear climbed on top of trash cans behind her, grabbed a trash bag out of one of the cans and took off to enjoy its meal.

“A bear watch and a storm watch here in Altadena, so a lot going on this morning,” she said.

Southern California is populated by black bears, which are omnivores whose diets include trash.

The California Department of Fish and Wildlife estimates the state’s black bear population to be between 49,000 and 71,000.
