SANDY, Utah (ABC4) — The Sandy City Police Department has identified the victim in the fatal Sandy shooting Monday night as 49-year-old Josh Pectol.
The police said that no arrests have been made and are actively looking for a suspect.
According to Sandy Police Department, the incident occurred shortly before 8:30 p.m. near 8720 S 90 E in Sandy. An attempted robbery turned into an argument and resulted in Pectol being shot.
Pectol was transported to a local hospital where, despite lifesaving efforts, succumbed to his injuries.
Law enforcement shared that there is no current threat to the public.
The Sandy City Police Department has asked that anyone in the area between 8530 S to 9000 S and from State St to 700 E between 8 PM and 9 PM, who saw anything suspicious or has video from the area that may be useful to the investigation contact (801)568-INFO or submit an anonymous tip online.
