COPIAH COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – An 18-year-old was killed and another person was seriously injured during a tractor-trailer crash in Copiah County.

The crash occurred on Interstate 55 near Hazlehurst around 3:00 p.m. on October 13, 2025.

According to the Mississippi Highway Patrol (MHP), a 2022 Mack tractor-trailer was traveling north on the interstate when it collided with a 2009 Nissan Altima that was also traveling north.

Troopers said the 20-year-old driver of the Nissan Altima was airlifted to the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) in Jackson with serious injuries. The passenger in the vehicle, 18-year-old Francesca Doss, of Fayette, died at the scene.

MHP officials said the driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured.

The crash remains under investigation by MHP.
