Much cooler & soggier weather on deck
A Wind Advisory will be in place for the Southwest Desert until 9 pm Tuesday night. It includes parts of Washington, Iron, and Beaver Counties, southerly winds are expected to be in the 20-30 mph range with gusts up to 50 mph. Make sure you secure loose outdoor items! While the north won’t be quite as windy, there will still be a strong breeze and gusty winds.
The southerly winds will keep temperatures fairly pleasant as it transports the warm desert air northward. Daytime highs will be in the mid to upper 60s for most, and low 70s for warm spots down south and parts of the Wasatch Front. As the cold front passes overnight, we will see those temperatures plummet. Wednesday and Thursday’s daytime highs will only top out in the low to mid 50s for most, and low to mid 60s for the warmest cities.
With the falling temperatures comes falling snow levels. Wednesday night will experience the coldest temperatures of the week with lows falling into the 30s and low 40s across the state. Snow levels could fall all the way to 7,000 feet, which would include places like Park City and some higher mountain valleys. However, it will still be a mostly rain for these areas and snow is not expected to stick very well. Snow should stick at around 9,000 feet which would limit it to mountains where 3-6 inches could fall.
In northern Utah things clear up and start warming up by Friday, and this weekend will feature comfortable temperatures and blue skies! Southern Utah will start warming up and drying out by Thursday.
