On Saturday night, Minneapolis fire crews and University of Minnesota police worked together to rescue a man who had fallen down a steep embankment and was stuck in trees, the Minneapolis Fire Department said.
The man called for help on his smartwatch at 8:24 p.m., saying he thought he had fallen down the riverbank, but didn’t remember exactly what had happened, other than being at East River Flats park earlier.
The man also didn’t know his exact location, the press release says.
Fire crews and police responded, using sirens, spotlights and infrared light to find the man, who was buried deep in the river bluff. Rescue crews repelled down to him, and brought him down to a fire rescue boat.
HCMC paramedics were waiting for the man on the shoreline, and took him in stable condition to the hospital for further medical evaluation, the fire department says.
