Lafayette City Marshal honored for youth service programs

LAFAYETTE, LA. (KLFY) — Lafayette City Marshal Reggie Thomas has been recognized on by National AMIkids Board of Trustees Meeting held in Orlando, Florida, and received an award honoring his outstanding work in Acadiana and his long-standing service to youth and families.

The National AMIkids organization supports youth programs across the country that provide alternatives to incarceration, promote education, and encourage character development. Marshal Thomas currently serves as Chair of the Acadiana AMIkids Board, where he helps guide programs and helps provide second chances for young people.

“This is a great honor, not just for me but for Lafayette and the entire Acadiana region” Thomas said. “Being recognized nationally shows that the work we are doing locally, helping young people make better choices, supporting families, and investing in our community, truly makes a difference.”

His recognition reflects his impact throughout the Lafayette community, with his role as Chair of United Way of Acadiana, the creation of the Renewal Program, the reintroduction of the D.A.R.E. Program in local schools, and his continued mentorship of the Lafayette City Marshal’s Explorers.

Marshal Thomas continues to be an active leader across Acadiana, ensuring that public service remains rooted in compassion, accountability, and opportunity.
