How to make DC News Now your preferred news source on Google
WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — Google updated its serach results to customize them to each person’s search preferences, so now, you can prioritize news from sources you trust, including DC News Now.

Here’s how to make DC News Now your preferred news source on Google.

The First Way

Click here. When the new tab opens for you to select your “preferred sources,” search for “DC News Now.” Check the box, and you’re good to go.

The Second Way

When you search for news or a story of the day, an icon should pop up next to “Top Stories.” You’ll see it in the picture we’re sharing:

Click on that icon (it’s cards with a star on it), then search for “DC News Now.” Check the box, and you’re all set.

Will I see other news stories on Google?

Yes, you will. Setting DC News Now (or any other organization) as a preferred source doesn’t block content from everyone else. You have the ability to update your list whenever you want. “Top stories” features content related to the search and a link to more related stories on the News tab.

Why do my Google search results differ from other people’s results?

When you search for a topic that’s in the news, Google algorithms organize specific stories based on certain factors. The results aren’t personalized, but you can refine your search terms to find additional information.

Google says when you personalize search results, the algorithms tailor the search based on your activity. Personalization doesn’t affect all search results.
