According to Sheriff Henry Whitehorn Sr., the incident took place on September 26, 2025 around 11:15 p.m.
Witnesses say a pedestrian was walking on the shoulder of Highway 173, Shreveport-Blanchard Road, near Smith Lane, when a high-speed dark-colored truck crossed the centerline and hit a person walking.
After hitting the victim, the driver continued driving south toward Shreveport, never stopping to render aid or call for assistance.
Those who witnessed the incident say the truck had a distinctive feature of multiple lights on the side of the truck, specifically noting some lights were yellow.
The witnesses were not able to see the license number.
Police say the victim was a male, and emergency responders transported him to Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport, where he later died from his injuries.
