Family of Porterville woman set on fire to show support by wearing purple outside court
PORTERVILLE, Calif (KSEE/KGPE) – Family and friends of the Porterville woman who was set on fire over the weekend are planning to show support by wearing purple to court on Tuesday.
The color honors victims of domestic violence – something that hit far too close to home for those close to Sheena Hoffman.
On Friday evening, deputies arrived at a Porterville home to find Sheena suffering from severe burns to her arms, torso, and face. On Saturday, Sheena’s son, Michael Post, says she was on the breathing machine and in an induced coma in the intensive care unit with burns to 25% of her body.
The suspect, identified by investigators as 42-year-old Sean Hofmann, was her husband. According to the couple’s social media accounts, they had just celebrated their 9th anniversary.
Sean will be making his court appearance at the Porterville courthouse on Tuesday. Sheena’s in-law, Lisa Jeanette Flowers, says she is planning to get a group of people together around noon to stand in front of the courthouse and protest the violence.
“I’m wanting to get a group of people together around 12 noon to go stand out in front of the courthouse to hold poster boards saying ‘Justice for Sheena.’ Then we can all go into the courtroom for [Sean’s] arraignment, if at all possible, wear a purple shirt,” she said.
Anyone who would like to show their support is welcome. Those who would like to support her recovery can visit her GoFundMe here.
