BOWIE, Md. (DC News Now) — An investigation is underway in Bowie after an armed robbery left a high schooler injured Monday afternoon.

Bowie police said officers responded to the reported armed robbery in the 15200 block of Annapolis Road just minutes after 2:30 p.m. This is in the area of Bowie High School.

There, officers learned that a person in a black Acura approached a Bowie High School student and demanded his Moose Knuckles jacket, according to police.

During the robbery, the teen sustained minor injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment.

A bystander tried to follow the black Acura as it traveled westbound on Annapolis Road. However, one of the suspects allegedly fired two gunshots into the air, causing the bystander to stop following them.

Police noted that the robbery involved two suspects, one of which was described as having a “large build,” with long locs, a mask and dark jeans. Authorities also said that the suspect was armed with a semi-automatic handgun.

The second suspect was spotted wearing all dark clothing with a camo mask.

Now, the City of Bowie Police Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying the unknown suspects. Police said the suspect vehicle had stolen Maryland tags, with plate number 1BY8071.

Investigators urge anyone with information to contact the department’s Criminal Investigations Division at 240-544-5700.
