Before kickoff, 100 kids from across the DMV area got the chance to attend the Commanders versus Bears game. For some, it was their first NFL game, thanks to the Caleb Cares Foundation, an organization founded by Williams. The foundation focuses on youth empowerment, mental health awareness and anti-bullying initiatives.
“It’s a blessing and it’s a great opportunity,” one young fan said.
The group included kids from Ridge Parks and Recreation in D.C. and the Caleb Williams Elite Team based in Bowie, Maryland. For many of them, seeing Williams play on an NFL field isn’t just exciting, it’s motivational.
“We want to broaden the lens through which kids see the world,” a foundation representative said.
“If they see Caleb out there living his dream, they can dream their own dream,” said Patsy Mangas, Director for the foundation.
Williams, a D.C. native, has made it a priority to give back to the community that helped shape him. Through his foundation, he hopes to show local youth that with hard work and faith, they too can achieve their goals.
“I really appreciate Caleb for what he’s done and [for] giving back to his community,” another participant said.
For many of the kids, tonight wasn’t just about football; it was about feeling seen and supported.
“I just want to thank you Caleb Williams for giving back to the community, making this experience good for us kids, and giving us the opportunity to come watch him play,” one child shared.
