Addison Rae’s darkest role yet, starring in Netflix’s new true-crime nightmare

SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – With Halloween just around the corner, Louisiana’s own Addison Rae is back on screens in a role that’s giving audiences chills. The Shreveport-area actress stars in Monster: The Ed Gein Story.

Rae, who attended Calvary Baptist Academy in Shreveport, plays Evelyn Hartley, a teenage babysitter whose disappearance becomes one of the show’s most haunting storylines.

The series takes on a dramatized take on the disturbing real-life crimes of Ed Gein, the 1950s Wisconsin killer who allegedly inspired horror icons like Norman Bates (Psycho) and Leatherface (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre).

Released on Netflix on October 3, 2025, the eight-episode season quickly climbed into Netflix’s Top 10, making it one of the most-watched picks for the spooky season.

Critics have been mixed on the show’s tone, but Netflix described her portrayal as “chilling,” highlighting her emotional range in a heavy role.

Rae, born in Lafayette and raised partly in Shreveport, said she felt supported by cast through the entire filmmaking, especially with co-star Charlie Hunnam, who plays the deranged serial killer Gein “During those intense scenes, where it was just me and him, he was so amazing at checking in, and keeping the flow really positive,” she told Netflix’s Tudum.

The show is the latest season in Ryan Murphy’s hit true-crime collection, that was also behind Netflix’s Dahmer and Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story.
