POTOSI, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – Many southeast Abilene and Potosi residents are without water after a water line break disrupted service on Monday.

According to the Potosi Water Supply Corporation, a utility company struck the main Abilene service line that supplies the town’s water near the intersection of FM 707 and FM 1750. While repairs are underway by the City of Abilene, residents across the area are experiencing low or no water pressure, even if they don’t live near the break.

An employee at Ace Hardware on FM 707 said that the store’s parking lot briefly flooded when the line ruptured before crews were able to shut off the water. Residents also told KTAB/KRBC that some have been without water since Monday morning.

A spokesperson for the Potosi Water Supply Corporation said the outage has impacted residents in the areas around Harrisburg, Blackhawk, Foothill, and Pilgrim Roads.

The break is estimated to affect roughly 250 homes. As of 6:30 p.m., crews expect to have the pumps turned back on soon, with the system potentially back online within the next couple of hours.
