Veterans Corner launches program to aid veteran housing
The organization is seeking community support through tax-deductible donations of $5 per month for 12 months or more, with a goal of raising $255,000 to $300,000 for the first pilot home. All funds will be deposited into an escrow building account at First Horizon Bank, where every donation will be tracked and publicly displayed on the Veterans Corner website at veteranscorner.vet.
Ganier emphasized that 100% of all donations will go directly toward the mission of the pilot home program – with no administrative costs deducted. Construction updates, including photos and payment distributions, will be transparently posted online, allowing all donors to monitor progress from start to finish.
“Every donor, no matter the amount, has the right to audit the building account and verify where every dollar goes,” Ganier said. “We want to build homes and trust at the same time.”
Upon completion, Veterans Corner will host an open house for all supporters before the keys are officially presented to the first veteran and their family. Ganier said he is personally covering all operating expenses related to the mission until further notice.
Program Benefits for Veterans
The pilot home program aims to save veterans thousands of dollars through affordable and flexible terms:
VCI also pledges to never foreclose on a veteran’s home due to life events and to extend eligibility to veterans’ children. In cases where a veteran must relocate for work, Veterans Corner will forgive the remaining debt if the home is left in good condition, allowing another veteran to move in without repair costs.
A Mission Built on Trust and Transparency
Founded in 2012, Veterans Corner, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to supporting veterans through affordable housing, employment assistance, and community outreach across southwest Louisiana and beyond.
“Our three guiding values are trust, accountability, and transparency,” Ganier said. “We believe in showing our community — not just telling them — where every cent goes and how it changes lives.”
