A Hibbing home was demolished during an explosion that injured several people on Sunday evening.
As initially reported by 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS sister station, WDIO, Friends of the Northland FireWire reported that the fire was called in around 6:40 p.m., when neighbors heard an explosion on the 2200 block of Ninth Avenue East.
The house was fully engulfed in flames when firefighters and police arrived. Several people have been injured due to the explosion and were transported to Hibbing Hospital for further care.
The fire has destroyed the original home and extensively damaged a second residence. Seven fire departments, including Hibbing, Chisholm, Virginia, and Keewatin all responded to the scene.
Hibbing police are asking people to stay away from the area.
The cause of the explosion is currently unknown.
