Police received multiple reports of gunfire around 9:11 p.m. Officers at the Monkhouse police substation also heard several rounds fired nearby and quickly notified dispatch.
When officers arrived, they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the abdomen. The bullet reportedly exited through his back. Shreveport Fire Department paramedics provided medical aid at the scene before taking him to Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport. His condition has not been released.
According to investigators, the suspect fled the scene in a white Nissan, traveling northbound on Kennedy Drive. Police immediately blocked off the area and began collecting evidence, including shell casings and surveillance footage from nearby businesses.
Detectives with the Violent Crimes Unit are leading the investigation. They ask anyone with information about the suspect or stolen vehicle to contact Shreveport Police or Crime Stoppers.
