The crash claimed the life of Dentreal A. Mouton, 24, of Lafayette.
State Police responded at approximately 1:20 a.m. today to a single-vehicle crash involving a pedestrian on I-12 near La. 1249. Investigators said a 2019 Honda Accord traveled westbound on I-12 in the left lane and hit Mouton, a pedestrian traveling in the same direction at the same time.
Mouton was pronounced dead at the scene, officials said.
The driver of the Honda Accord was uninjured in the crash. According to the LSP, toxicology samples were collected from the driver and Mouton.
The crash remains under investigation.
