Isolated showers and storms, gusty winds, and mild temperatures hang around Monday night into Tuesday

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — Happy Monday, Utah! We’re looking at a mostly sunny and breezy start to the week across northern Utah, with daytime highs warming into the upper 60s to near 70 across northern Utah. Southern Utah will still have some isolated showers and storms, leading to some heavy rain potential across southeast Utah. Highs will be in the mid to upper 70s across southern Utah on Monday afternoon.

A batch of moisture could surge north across central and northern Utah Monday evening, bringing isolated rain chances to the northern half of the state.

Tuesday will feature partly cloudy skies and windy conditions as a potent front moves into Utah. Highs will warm into the upper 60s to lower 70s across northern Utah and highs will warm into the mid 70s for SW Utah. Winds will increase throughout the day with areas of the West Desert and SW Utah gusting up to 45 mph.

A line of showers and thunderstorms will develop across north and central Utah Tuesday afternoon and sweep across the state between 5pm- 11pm Tuesday evening. These storms could produce areas of locally heavy rain, gusty winds, small hail, and frequent lightning. The wind will continue to howl outside of any thunderstorms through Tuesday night.

As the cold front moves through, winds will switch directions from out of the south to out of the northwest bringing another big, fast drop in temperatures Tuesday evening. Areas above 7000FT will likely see any rain quickly change over to snow as those snow levels quickly drop. Several inches of fresh snow will be possible again for the higher elevations.

The good news is that the end of the work week into the upcoming weekend is looking perfect for any outdoor fall activities. Highs will be in the 60s for northern Utah and into the low to mid 70s for southern Utah. The sun will return and shine across the state in full force through the weekend.
