Officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department responded around 3:33 p.m. to the 1700 block of S. West Street after receiving a report of a serious crash involving a pickup truck and a Sedan. This area is located just off White River Parkway East Drive.
The Indianapolis Fire Department also responded to the scene to assist with entrapment following the serious crash. In an update, IMPD confirmed that one person was transported to an area hospital in critical condition. Three other individuals were listed in stable condition.
IMPD added that the drivers will take a blood draw, which is standard procedure following any bodily injury crashes. Police are investigating to determine if drugs or alcohol played a possible role in the crash. Toxicology results are pending.
As of 5 p.m. on Monday, IMPD confirmed the area surrounding S. West Street is projected to be closed for the next several hours as crash investigators continue canvassing the scene.
