WINDSOR LOCKS, Conn. (WWLP) – Travelers at Bradley International Airport experienced minimal delays on Columbus Day and Indigenous Peoples’ Day, despite concerns over a nor’easter and the ongoing U.S. government shutdown.

The airport, which was expected to be busy due to the holiday, remained relatively quiet. The nor’easter, a coastal storm affecting the Northeast, did not significantly disrupt travel plans, and the government shutdown, now in its 13th day, did not appear to impact airport operations.

“I expected a delay, but it was only about 15 minutes,” said Alex Maningas, a traveler heading to Dallas. “I thought it would be backed up, but looking at the line, it’s not bad at all.”

Many travelers expressed relief at the smooth operations at Bradley International Airport. One traveler noted that while they drove through rough weather, the traffic was manageable.

The busiest time at the airport was early Monday morning, but by the afternoon, operations had calmed down. Travelers reported that staff were available to assist, alleviating concerns about the impact of the government shutdown on TSA operations.

As the day progressed, Bradley International Airport continued to operate smoothly, with travelers experiencing only minor delays. The combination of effective airport management and the passing of the storm contributed to a surprisingly calm holiday travel day.
