Abilene Raceway hosts benefit for NHRA champion Scott Mac
Held as a birthday bash benefit, the event was more than just a race; it was a tribute to a man who has given so much to the sport. Proceeds from the race, T-shirt sales, a silent auction, and donations are going toward Scott’s medical bills.
The track wasn’t just filled with roaring engines but also heartfelt tributes. One of the most emotional moments came when Scott’s daughter made a solo pass down the track, a symbolic gesture of love and strength in honor of her father.
Scott, a devoted father and grandfather, has always found strength in racing, and today, the community gave that strength right back.
When asked if they had a message for Scott, his family shared just one:
“Don’t give up the fight. Scott, we love you. We’re all here for you. We support you in any decisions you make. We just pray for you and lift you up to God for peace and comfort and healing,” Scott’s sister-in-law Denise McKinstry said.
Though Scott was unable to attend in person, he watched the event from his hospital bed via livestream, smiling as hundreds showed up to support him. His family said he was deeply moved by the outpouring of love and solidarity.
