Indiana hands No. 2 Oregon first home loss since 2022 with 30–20 upset

Indiana University football made history Saturday afternoon, toppling No. 2 Oregon 30–20 at Autzen Stadium to earn its first-ever road victory over a top-10 opponent.
Quarterback Fernando Mendoza led the Hoosiers (6–0, 3–0 Big Ten) with 215 passing yards and a touchdown, while running back Roman Hemby scored twice and rushed for 70 yards. Wide receiver Elijah Sarratt hauled in eight passes for 121 yards, including the go-ahead 8-yard touchdown catch with 6:23 remaining.
Indiana’s defense dominated the trenches, sacking Oregon quarterback Dante Moore six times and forcing two interceptions. Linebackers Aiden Fisher and Rolijah Hardy each finished with 13 tackles and a sack, while Isaiah Jones added another sack and an interception as the Hoosiers limited the Ducks to just 81 rushing yards on 30 attempts.
The Hoosiers took control early with a 42-yard field goal from Nicolas Radicic and a 3-yard Hemby touchdown to lead 10–7 after the first quarter. Oregon tied it 13–13 in the third, but Hemby’s second rushing score capped a 75-yard drive to put Indiana back in front. After Oregon’s Brandon Finney returned an interception for a touchdown to tie the game 20–20, Mendoza responded with a 12-play, 75-yard march, ending with Sarratt’s clutch touchdown catch.
Senior kicker Brendan Franke hit a career-long 58-yard field goal as time expired in the first half and added a 22-yarder in the final minutes to seal the win. Indiana finished with 326 total yards to Oregon’s 267, controlled the ball for more than 33 minutes, and went a perfect 5-for-5 in the red zone.
