Texas Rangers ask public for tips in 2001 Mason County cold case
DPS said a reward of up to $6,000 is available if someone submits a tip that leads to an arrest in the case before the next featured Texas Rangers cold case is announced.
On October 14, 2001, Schuessler was found dead at his ranch house along State Highway 29 in rural Mason County. DPS said he was last seen alive on October 13. Investigators believe someone met with Schuessler at his home and got into an argument, and an altercation occurred.
According to the press release, Schussler’s case is being actively investigated by the Texas Rangers, and as technology has advanced, evidence has been retested and submitted for analysis.
“The Texas Rangers, local law enforcement, and the community have not given up hope in finding out what happened to Schussler nearly 25 years ago,” the press release said.
To be eligible for a cash reward for this case, DPS said tipsters must provide information to authorities using one of the following methods:
