On October 14, 2001, Schuessler was found dead at his ranch house along State Highway 29 in rural Mason County. DPS said he was last seen alive on October 13. Investigators believe someone met with Schuessler at his home and got into an argument, and an altercation occurred.

According to the press release, Schussler’s case is being actively investigated by the Texas Rangers, and as technology has advanced, evidence has been retested and submitted for analysis.

“The Texas Rangers, local law enforcement, and the community have not given up hope in finding out what happened to Schussler nearly 25 years ago,” the press release said.

  • Call the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-252-TIPS (8477).
  • Submit a tip online and select “Cold Cases Featured” and “Cold Case” in the type of crime and offense type sections.
