Teen bicyclist hospitalized after being hit by vehicle in Silver Spring, police say

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) — A teenage boy was taken to the hospital with minor injuries Friday after being struck by a vehicle in Silver Spring, Montgomery County police said.

The Montgomery County Department of Police told DC News Now that officers responded to the collision, reportedly involving a bicyclist and a vehicle, in the 80 block of University Boulevard E at around 8 a.m.

There, officers found the teen bicyclist with minor injuries, and medics took him to the hospital for treatment.

The driver of the striking vehicle stayed at the scene and was not hurt, police noted.

At this time, it is unclear what caused the bicyclist and vehicle to collide. The investigation is ongoing.
