Raiders’ Tristin McCollum fined for hit that ended kicker Spencer Shrader’s season

INDIANAPOLIS — The play that cost Spencer Shrader the rest of the season cost Tristin McCollum $5,722.

That was the fine levied against the Las Vegas Raiders safety by the NFL on Saturday.

McCollum dove into the right leg of Shrader on a second-quarter PAT in the Indianapolis Colts’ 40-6 win over the Raiders last Sunday, tearing Shrader’s anterior cruciate and medial collateral ligaments. He was placed on the injured reserve list this week and will miss the rest of the season.

McCollum was penalized for unnecessary roughness on the play, but the consequences were much more severe to Shrader.

“We’re just really gutted for Spencer Shrader,’’ special teams coordinator Brian Mason said.

Also, linebacker Joe Bachie was fined $6,500 for unnecessary roughness/tripping a Raider. He also was placed on IR with a foot injury.
