Tractor driver killed in Tulare County crash

TULARE COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – An early morning tow ended in tragedy after a collision between a Chevrolet Silverado and an agricultural John Deere tractor.

CHP says the tractor was towing a trailer east on State Route 201, just past Road 48, around 7:15 Thursday. Due to its cargo, CHP says the tractor was going under the speed limit and partially within the eastbound lane.

Around the same time, a Chevrolet Silverado began to approach from behind. CHP says the driver attempted evasive action by turning to the left, but the front right side of the truck collided with the back left side of the trailer.

According to officers, the impact pushed the trailer onto the tractor, killing the tractor’s driver.

Anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact the California Highway Patrol Visalia Area office at (559) 734-6767.
