STAFFORD COUNTY, Va. (DC News Now) — A man was arrested after allegedly shattering a glass door and breaking into a Lowe’s to “charge his phone,” the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office detailed.

According to deputies, just before 3 a.m. on Wednesday, crews responded to a breaking-and-entering at a Lowe’s on 1330 Stafford Market Place.

There, a glass door was found kicked in, and an employee of the store told police a man had entered the store moments prior, before being escorted out and running away.

Deputies searched the area with K-9 Mija, who sniffed out the suspect, identified as Markus Lancaster.

When confronted by deputies, Lancaster responded by saying he broke into the store because he was “looking for a place to charge my phone.”

Lancaster was charged with breaking and entering as well as destruction of commercial property.

He was transported to the Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $2,500 secured bond.
