DALLAS — Galleria Dallas is honoring Hispanic Heritage Month with a new art installation by Latina-Jewish multidisciplinary artist Joy Reyes.

Reyes, a Dallas-based artist and curator, is known for portrait paintings and mixed-media works that explore familial bonds, motherhood, religion and her dual cultural identity. She said her work is also deeply tied to social issues affecting her community.

“My work explores complex themes such as familial bonds, motherhood, religion and my Latina-Jewish culture,” Reyes said. “I want my art to resonate with people on an intimate level while also sparking conversations about the challenges we face as a community.”

Reyes said she is excited for her art to be displayed in such a high-traffic setting.

“It allows my art to be seen by a wider audience than by the subset of people who attend art shows,” she said. “I hope people who see the display find meaning in my work that gives them something to think about long after they leave it.”

The exhibition is part of Galleria Dallas’ Artist Collective program, which highlights local creatives by showcasing their work in the shopping center.

The Hispanic Heritage Month Art Exhibit by Joy Reyes is free and open to the public during regular shopping center hours. It is on display through Oct. 15 in the Art Window at Galleria Dallas, 13350 Dallas Parkway, Level 1 near Sephora.
